Newtown to Lewisham 33kV Feeders Project

Purpose: Construction of Underground 33kV Feeder between Newtown STS and Lewisham Zone Substations.
Description: The purpose of the project was to install 33kV Cable (Feeder No. 763) between Newtown Substation and Lewisham Substation. The cable route was constructed in both public roadways and in the railway corridor, as a combination of:
  • Conduits installation in a bore crossing the railway lines;
  • Conduits installation in 14:1 sand/ cement backfill in trenches;
  • Conduits installation in concrete backfill in trenches;
  • Cables installation in above ground galvanized steel troughing.

The feeder passed through a fully developed suburban area, containing industrial, commercial and domestic properties. The project was a success and delivered ahead of schedule within allotted budget.
